This is lake quillwort. The identification was made by Neil Luebke, Milwaukee Public Museum. For more information: plants.usda.gov/java/profile?symbol=ISLA

I got up very early and the air temperature was 48 degrees F. The water temperature was 76 degrees F. so I spent two hours snorkeling and photographing. This image was taken under water using an underwater housing and tripod.

The mussel is the eastern Elliptio. It is a common mussel in Piseco Lake. For more information: www.hiltonpond.org/ThisWeek011022.html

The small white snail on the mussel is Amnicola limosa. Thanks to Dr. Rob Dillon for the identification. For more information: www.fwgna.org/species/hydrobiidae/a_limosa.html
