This cave is a famous feature on Mount Mansfield. The entrance is visible from several vantage points.

Cave of the Winds is located around 4,000 feet on Mount Mansfield. The cave is developed in an albite-sericite-chlorite-quartz-magnetite schist of the Hazens Notch Formation (this information taken from the published cave map). The cave consist of an enlarged crack that extents 208 feet horizontally and 80 feet vertically.
