Cave of the Winds is located around 4,000 feet on Mount Mansfield. The cave is developed in an albite-sericite-chlorite-quartz-magnetite schist of the Hazens Notch Formation (this information taken from the published cave map). The cave consist of an enlarged crack that extents 208 feet horizontally and 80 feet vertically.

This is the lowest passage in the cave. There was lots of ice. I estimate the temperature to be just above freezing.
