I always think it is a good day when I see a large timber rattlesnake. This one was maybe four feet long. I was working within a couple of feet of it and it never once moved except for a little tongue testing. I really wanted to see the rattles so I lightly touched it with a stick. It still didn't move. I took my images and left it to enjoy the warm autumn sun. For more information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crotalus_horridus
