Traditional Healer is inspecting Asparagus before harvest. Although this forest is rich in Asparagus population but he took two hours to select potential plant. This time he is collecting plant for preparation of herbal formulation for treatment of respiratory troubles. Forest plants present in surroundings play important role in making Asparagus rich in medicinal properties-he knows. That is why he will collect the plants present in surroundings and prepare solution. This solution will be applied near base of Asparagus plant one hour before harvest. After this treatment plant is harvested with the help of wooden tool. When Asparagus is harvested by traders at commercial scale they ignore such procedures and as result get parts with less medicinal properties. Even in commercial cultivation of Asparagus, this Traditional Allelopathic Knowledge is not a part of cultivation practices. This knowledge is still in practice in rural and forest regions of India. I feel that after scientific trials there is need to bring this knowledge in main stream of commercial cultivation. For more information on this interesting aspect of Traditional Healing please read this scientific report. Oudhia, P. (2008). Scientific report on herbs and herbal formulations used traditionally for ‘Extraordinary sexual performances’, based on Ethnobotanical surveys conducted in Indian state Chhattisgarh and neighboring states. http://www.Ecoport.org
