Geographic distribution
DISTRIBUTION: This species is currently known from four locations in New Zealand: North Island, the summit of Table Mt., Coromandel Peninsula where it is locally common; South Island, Central West Coast and South Westland where it would also appear to be locally common; and Stewart Island where it becomes locally abundant. In both Westland localities Frullania truncata was found growing on bark of Dacrydium cuppressinum on roadside; in the South Westland locale, plants were very common on loose flakes of bark on this host species and growing with Radula, Drepanolejeunea, Lepidolaena clavigera, and Plagiochila species (Dr. John Braggins pers. comm.).
