Identification
Idaea furciferata is a sexually dimorphic species. The males have a distinctive notch in their hindwng, while the females do not. The forewing main color is tan, with dull, brownish pink or purple bands, the largest of which does not extend to the outer wing margin.

Similar species:
Idaea demissaria (Red-bordered Wave) is similar to the female morph of Idaea furciferata, but wings are shaded in deeper red from the pm band to outer margin,with a tan spot near the apex.
