Habitat - Low rich woods, rocky woods, slopes, thickets, railroads.

Origin - Native to U.S.

Other info. - This interesting plant can be found in the southern half of Missouri. The plant is easy to identify in the field because of its 3-lobed leaves, vining habit, and small yellowish flowers. No other flowers in Missouri resemble those of the genus Passiflora .
P. lutea is most often seen as a small non-flowering plant but in low, moist woods flowering plants are common.
The species epithet "lutea" means "yellow."
