Overview Iowa Lakeside Laboratory is located in the natural lakes region of Northwest Iowa, occupying 140 acres on Little Millers Bay on West Okoboji Lake. Both grassland and woodland are found on campus, and a wide range of habitats occur nearby, including deep and shallow lakes, tallgrass prairie, marsh, fen, and forest. The climate is continental; temperatures can range from -35° C in winter to 40° C in summer. Campus facilities include seven laboratory buildings, a lecture hall, a library, a computer lab, a multi-purpose building, a dining hall, and both rustic and motel-style lodging. At maximum capacity in summer, about 80 people can be lodged on campus. Credit courses are offered in the summer months and public programs year-round. The station also welcomes outside researchers.
