In partnership with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies,
Discover Life is customizing identification guides to the flora and fauna of Vermont.
The guides are not complete yet but still simplify the identification process considerably. They
work by using Discover Life's North American guides, presenting just the species that are
in Vermont based of data provided by the Vermont Center for Ecostudies,
USDA Plants Database, and other sources.
We seek help in assembling photographs and site locations of species in Vermont and elsewhere. In particular,
we are interested in photographs and other information documenting plants, pollinators, moths, ladybugs, lichens,
mushrooms, slime molds, amphibians, and birds. We are also recruiting teachers, students, and other individuals
who wish to contribute to citizen science by monitoring sites using digital photography (see
Macrosystems Research).
