Regarding New Fungal TWIG Members

Rod Tulloss. "Butterflies of the Soil" includes macrofungi which grow in the soil, or more properly plant substrates in or on the soil. As such they probably donot encompass even a majority of the fungi present in your ATBI. The micro-fungi, like the micro-leps and beetles are extremely speciose. Congratulations on the addition of Bob Fogel and Joey Spatafora to the fungal twig. These people are highly accomplished and well-known mycologists; their names on the roster will do a lot to legitimize this project for main-line mycologists. I must admit that one truly cool fungus has showed up on Leucothoe collected in the park - surely a new genus, and a highly distinctive one. If I can get enough together for a type specimen we will describe it. By the way, type cultures must go to the American Type Culture Collection , not whatever facility may appear in the Park. Regards, George Carroll
