Suggestions for changes in Discover Life In America Mission Statement:

Our purpose is to develop a foundation of knowledge about all species
in the Great Smoky Mountains National park to better understand, conserve, and manage
our natural heritage {delete unimpaired] today and for the future generations.

Mission statement:

To provide information technology and standards support (hardware, software,
telecommunications and content structure1) to the information life cycle (input,
organization, management, dissemination2, and archiving) of the data generated
or needed for the Discover Life in America/ATBI.

In discussing the mission statement it was recommended that the name of the
group be modified to include the broader concept of "information systems" since the
work is to manage the life cycle of the ATBI information.  Thus we recommend that
it become the "Information Systems Group".
