Crematogaster (Sphaerocrema) longiceps Santschi

return to key {link to the Hymenoptera Name Server} Type location Mali (Soudan français) (Cremastogaster longiceps, n. sp. (in litt.), Santschi, 1910c: 376, queen); queen only described (see Bolton, 1995, where type location is wrongly given as "Sudan") .

Santschi (1910c) under a note reporting Cr. wellmanni from Congo, stated (my translation) -

"I conjecture that the queen described under the name of Crematogaster concava belongs to this species. I received it from Brazzaville (Weiss). Libreville (Paris Museum).
In Soudan français [Mali] is found a species very close with the queen differing in having a much longer head, C. longiceps, n.sp. (in litt) (Paris Museum)".
