Lepidoptera Database

Investigator(s): Brian G. Scholtens, Department of Biology, College of Charleston

The Lepidoptera TWiG of the GSMNP-ATBI has gotten off to a great start in surveying the park's fauna of butterflies and moths. We accumulated a large number of new records and a great deal of data during our Bioblitz this past summer and several individuals have been actively working in the park. In addition, past work has provided a large number of distribution records for species in the park. My project will compile all these records in a single database, which will be made available on the web through the ATBI server at Ohio State University. In addition, this database will be used to construct web pages for a trial group of popular Lepidoptera, the butterflies.
