DLIA 2001 Mini-Grant Executive Summary

Diversity of Aquatic Insects Inhabiting the Little River and Forge Creek Watersheds of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

We will be researching the diversity of aquatic insects that inhabit the Middle Prong of the Little River and the Forge Creek watersheds from April through October. We chose these areas because of similar topography and Forest Diversity. The Middle Prong, predominantly second growth, Forge Creek area, predominantly old growth. Thirty-Five high school students will complete the collections, be responsible for data records and reporting to the ATBI conference, identification of specimens will be completed by Dr. Norm Johnson O.S.U. We will use the $4,675 received From D.L.I.A. grant #(DLIA2001-27) To offset the Cost to students for travel and Lodging.
