DLIA 2001 Mini-Grant Executive Summary

Spider Identification

Investigator(s): Emily C. Whiteley, Department of Biology, Western Piedmont Community College, Morganton, NC 28655

Spiders are a diverse group of generalist predators that are found in many different habitats. The research funded by this grant (DLIA2001-06, $720.00) will be used to identify, to species, spiders that are part of a backlog generated by ATBI members conducting pitfall and malaise trapping at Twin Creeks and 10 other sites. The total number of spiders in this backlog is increasing as the traps are currently active, therefore I will identify as many spiders as possible between 15 May and 15 Aug 2001.
