Pick,

So I'm still looking at the intermec ScanImage 1470 high density unit. It
is about the only one that can read code49, right? Now a problem for us is
that we use macs, and this unit is formated for rs232. Are they going to
make a USB one? Alternatively, I found this little gadget that is a
rs232-USB converter. The company is
Marson Technology Co., LTD.
9F.,108-3,Min-Chuan Road, Hsin-Tien, Taipei,Taiwan
TEL:886-2-2218-1633 FAX:886-2-2218-6638
E-mail: marson@ficnet.net
 Web: http://www.marsontech.com

Their little gadget is

                     Multifunctional USB Converter

The MT606 USBLink\056 is designed to serve as an efficient and
multi-functional converter from many peripherals to the newly developed
           Universal Serial Bus Operating system.
The Universal Serial Bus has been offered as standard interface
for multiple peripherals on most notebooks and PC's since June 1997.
However.it
cannot take place of the PC traditional ports in a short
period. USBLink\056 becomes the most efficient link between USB and other
interfaces for
           the application of conventional peripherals.
USBLink\056 has two PS/2 mini Din6 female ports for the
connections of barcode scanner and keyboard/mouse or other peripheral
combinations to
communicate with host through USB port at the same time.
USBLink\056 converts the signal from different interfaces such as
RS232 and Keyboard wedge into USB compatible operating system allowing for
           efficient host communications.

see the webpage at http://www.marsontech.com/mt606.htm

Would this work to make a 1470 work on a mac? You don't need the Quickview
software to make the 1470 work as an input device, right? You can make it
feed directly into applications, like our current wedges?
