Born 13 May 1957, in Budapest, Hungary. Research interests focus on: Biodiversity, biogeography, and evolution of tropical marine invertebrates, especially in the Indo-west Pacific; biology and geology of coral reefs; systematics of corals, bivalves, and holothuroids; origin and diversification of the terrestrial and marine Pacific insular biota.
