Each of my graduate students has been awarded $50,000-$100,000 in multiple research grants to complete their doctoral dissertation research.

FIELD WORK

Research in Peru, Paraguay, Malaysia, Philippines, Madagascar
1986-present Conducting research involving behavioral ecology, demography, population genetics, aging research, parasite loads, ontogeny and behavior of Propithecus edwardsi, the Milne-Edwards sifaka. Designed and executed one of the few longitudinal mega databases for wild primates, including the 18-year study of four groups that are followed every month for five days.

1993-present Organizing, coordinating and teaching one course in the Stony Brook Study Abroad Course in Madagascar (15 credits for 12-15 students).

2002-2007 Principal Investigator "Modeling Deforestation in the Rain Forests of Madagascar Project," Interdisciplinary Sciences grant from David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Combining cultural anthropology, and tropical biology.

2003-2006 Co Principal investigator on the NIH project, "Drug Discovery and Biodiversity Conservation in Madagascar." (Integrated Conservation of Biodiversity Group" Program

2000-2004 Organizing and managing the biodiversity science component of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites-Natural Sites and United Nations Foundation project to nominate a cluster of WHS in Madagascar (in collaboration with MICET and ANGAP).
