Research-related experiences:

*Ichneumonid wasps(Ichneumonoidea): (Barro Colorado Island (BCI), Panama, La Selva, Costa Rica, and Guanacaste Conservation Area, Costa Rica; December 1996-August 1997). Ten months of field work in Panama and Costa Rica. Ground and canopy malaise trapping and taxonomic training. Investigation of parasitoid distribution, tri-trophic and community level interactions, and the effects of El Niño on flight patterns and seasonality.

*Hydrology: (University of Georgia Honors Geology and Anthropology Program, 1995, and BCI, Panama 1997): water input and lithological effects on transport at Yucca Mountain Hazardous Waste Site in NV and Hanford, WA. Under Dr. Robert Stallard (USGS and University of Colorado), mapping of the Lutz River basin on BCI. Determined patterns of nitrate and phosphate cycling between forest fragments in the Panama Canal.

*Geology: (University of Georgia Honors Geology and Anthropology Program, 1995): Participated in an intense two-month field program aimed at teaching research skills and a basic understanding of earth processes. Gathered mineralogical and lithological data; constructed topographic and stratigraphic maps of sites in Colorado and Nevada; performed beach profile experiments on the Georgia barrier islands and along the northern coast of California; participated in archaeological digs in Warfield Springs, WY and Ashfall State Park, NE.

Teaching experience:

*Upper Division Field and Systems Ecology (Dr. Bernard Patten)
*Introduction to Ecology for Majors (Dr. John Pickering and Drs. Robert Wyatt and Jim Richardson)
