Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Inhabits slow-flowing streams or still, isolated pools in either clear or turbid conditions. Can tolerate marine conditions and temperatures well above 30° C. Can live in water where salinity levels twice that of sea water. An extremely hardy species capable of surviving hypersaline conditions and a wide temperature range. Its tolerance to salinity is much higher than that of most other fishes. The omnivorous diet includes small invertebrates and plant material (Ref. 44894 ).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804 ):  PD 50 = 0.5000   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high]. Bayesian length-weight: a=0.01122 (0.00514 - 0.02450), b=3.04 (2.87 - 3.21), in cm total length, based on all LWR estimates for this body shape (Ref. 93245 ). Trophic level (Ref. 69278 ):  3.0   ±0.4 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives Resilience (Ref. 120179 ):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.). Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153 ):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
