Dorsal rays XX to XXII, 10-12 (usually XXI, 11); anal rays II, 20-22 (usually 21); pectoral rays 14; lateral-line scales 57- 64; scales present or absent on midline in front of dorsal fin, present on breast, absent from prepectoral region; jaws with single row of large conical teeth; roof of mouth with teeth only at front; cirri present on nostrils, above eye, and on nape.
Greenish on upper half and white below, 5-6 irregular-shaped dark bars on side; a large (eye-sized) dark spot on upper half of gill cover and greenish-brown bands on lower part of head and on breast region.
Size: to 8.5 cm.
Common in rocky shallows, including tide pools.
Depth: 1-10 m.
Galapagos Islands.
