Body pale grey-brown, without cross-bars or spots; peritoneum unpigmented; scales on eye-side with dark rear edges; dorsal and anal fins with alternating groups of dark and light rays, dark rays becoming darker towards rear of body; top lip on eye-side blackish; tail fin with a large, elongate black, white-ringed ocellus.
Size: grows to at least 8 cm.
Inhabits flat sand bottoms.
Depth: 7-24 m.
Known only from 2 specimens collected in the Gulf of Chiriquí, Panama.
