Citation: Fish of Japan(Nakabo, 2002); Fishbase( 2002)
Character: Dorsal fin single, spine strong, 4th and 5th longest; anal fin small, same form as dorsal, 2nd strong. Pectoral fin mid-long. Caudal fin forked. Body silver grey, bodyside basic fin dark with spot band. All fins dark or light grey, dorsal fin and caudal fin black edge. 
Habitat: Young individuals are frequently found in brackish waters. Commercially cultured in Japan. Inhabit demersal/brackish marine environment. Attains max size 4.5cm SL. 
Distribution: Northwest Pacific: endemic to the Ryukyu Islands including the Amami Islands in Japan. 
Utility: commercial species; aquaculture species.
