This small species, known only from a few specimens from Texas (Fig. 4), is quite different from any of the preceding species because of the punctate, shiny integument and the presence of a pale apical fascia on the first tergum. The male was not collected with the females but because these are the only known Gonandrena from Texas and because of the similarities in punctation and structure, the association of sexes is believed to be correct.

FEMALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS: N = 3; length, 9-10 mm; width, about 3 mm; wing length, M = 3.63 ± 0.227 mm; FL/FW, M = 0.93 ± 0.011; FOVL/FOVW, M = 2.96 ± 0.084.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — Black except as follows: mandible with apical half rufescent; flagellum dark brown below; wing membranes hyaline, colorless, veins blackish-brown; tegulae piceous; terga with apical areas slightly translucent; sterna with apical areas hyaline; tibial spurs yellow. STRUCTURE. — Antennal scape length equal to first four flagellar segments; flagellar segments as in fragilis. Eyes each about four times as long as broad, inner margins parallel. Mandible and galea as in fragilis. Labial palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 1.0:0.6:0.6:0.7. Maxillary palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 0.9:1.0:0.8:0.6:0.6:0.6. Labral process large, triangular, pointed apex turned slightly outward; labrum below process weakly sulcate, shiny. Clypeus rounded from side to side, with large, deep, somewhat irregularly-sized punctures separated mostly by half a puncture width except in extremely narrow impunctate midline, surface shiny, shagreening sparse except near base; free apical margin distinct, long, upturned. Supraclypeal area, face above antennal fossae and vertex as in fragilis. Facial fovea long, broad, extending down to level below lower margins of antennal fossae, separated from lateral ocellus by half an ocellar diameter. Genal area about one and one-half times eye width in profile, with distinct punctures separated by half to one puncture width, shiny, shagreened posteriorly, without posterior carina.

Pronotum with a distinct dorsoventral ridge extending down from angle, with ten or twelve minute rugulae paralleling ridge at least in lower three-fifths, shiny behind ridge in upper two-fifths. Mesoscutum with large deep punctures separated mostly by half a puncture width throughout, surface shiny, unshagreened. Scutellum similar but punctures slightly sparser. Propodeum with dorsal area roughened by fine, irregular, anastomizing rugulae densely tessellate; lateral surface shiny, finely tessellate with scattered punctures. Mesepisterna with small punctures separated mostly by one to two puncture widths, more crowded anteriorly and above, surface dulled by dense tessellation. Wing venation much as in fragilis but vein 1st m-cu meets second submarginal cell just beyond middle to about last third of cell.

Metasomal tergum 1 with distinct punctures basally separated by two puncture widths becoming more crowded apically until in apical area separated by less than half a puncture width, surface shiny, unshagreened. Terga 2-4 similar to 1 but basal area punctures denser, separated by one to two puncture widths, surfaces shiny, unshagreened. Pygidial plate as in fragilis. Sterna with basal areas densely punctate, narrow apical areas impunctate, surfaces dulled by reticular shagreening.

VESTITURE. — Generally white and as in fragilis but note the following: Corbicula with internal simple hairs abundant; tergum 1 with a narrowly interrupted, apical, pale fascia similar to those of terga 2-4; sterna with subapical fimbriae.

MALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS: N = 1; length, about 8 mm; width, about 2 mm; wing length, 3.38 mm; FL/FW, about 0.96; FS1/FS2, about 1.22.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — Antenna moderately long; scape length equal to about first two and two-thirds flagellar segments; flagellar segment 1 short, about equal in length to segment 3, longer than segment 2, segment 2 quadrate, succeeding segments longer than broad. Eyes each about three and one-half times as long as broad, inner margins parallel. Galea as in female. Mandibles decussate, but shorter than in fragilis. Labial palpus as in female but ratio about as 1.0:0.8:0.6:0.8. Maxillary palpus as in female but ratio about as 1.0:1.0:0.9:0.6:0.6:0.3. Labral process small, triangular with apex rounded and slightly protuberant; labrum below process not sulcate. Clypeus flattened medially, with deep large punctures separated mostly by half a puncture width (without impunctate midline), apical free margin long, entire. Supraclypeal area, face above antennal fossae and vertex as in female. Genal area broad, especially below, without distinct posterior carina, in profile ratio of eye to genal area about as 2:3; surface with minute punctures separated by one or more puncture widths, dulled by reticular shagreening and minute longitudinal rugulae in posterior half or more.

Pronotum with sharp dorsoventral ridge and several coarse paralleling rugulae, shiny behind ridge. Mesoscutum and scutellum as in female but punctures slightly sparser. Propodeum as in female but dorsal area rugulae slightly coarser. Mesepisternum as in female. Wing venation as in female.

Metasomal terga 1-5 sculptured as in female terga 2-4 but punctures extremely slightly sparser especially in basal areas and near base of apical areas. Sterna 2-5 as in female but apical areas longer. Sternum 6 with shallow, dish-shaped emargination, flat. Terminalia as figured (Figs. 26-30); note the following: penis valves lacking ventral lamellae; dorsal lamellae narrow. Gonocoxite with apical process short, dorsal process more acute apically and not turned outwards.

VESTITURE. — As in female but without pollen-collecting hairs; terga 1-5 with apical pale fasciae broadly interrupted medially; sterna 2-5 with extremely weak subapical fimbriae of relatively short hairs.
