This species, known from several specimens from the western states (Fig. 4), differs from the preceding four species of Gonandrena in both sexes by lacking the posterior genal carina (present feebly in the upper part of the gena in some specimens) and by having the free clypeal margin short and not strongly upturned. The female is similar to that of nigrifrons or persimulata in the shape of the labral process but has the clypeus more punctate and moderately shiny. The female has the scopal hairs plumose throughout (even more so than in integra or persimulata) and the internal corbicular hairs are branched. The male described below was not collected with any of the females but, because of the location of the collection and because of the short clypeal margin of the female, we believe the association of sexes to be correct.

FEMALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS: N = 7; length, about 9 mm; width, 2.5-3.0 mm; wing length, M = 3.85 ± 0.181 mm; FL/PW, M = 0.96 ± 0.005; FOVL/FOVW, M = 4.14 ± 0.101.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — As in fragilis except flagellum dark brown below.

STRUCTURE. — Antenna as in fragilis. Eyes each about three and three-fourths times as long as broad, inner margins parallel. Mandible and galea as in fragilis. Labial palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 1.0:0.6: 0.5:0.6. Maxillary palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 1.0:1.0:0.9:0.8: 0.7:0.7. Labral process and labrum as in nigrifrons. Clypeus rounded from side to side, free apical margin short medially, punctures separated mostly by half a puncture width except along narrow impunctate midline, surface moderately shiny, reticularly shagreened. Supraclypeal area tessellate, punctures minute and obscure. Face above antennal fossae as in fragilis. Vertex as in fragilis but shorter, above lateral ocellus equals slightly less than one ocellar diameter. Genal area broad, about twice width of eye in profile, without posterior carina or carina extremely weakly developed in upper part, surface moderately dulled by fine reticular shagreening, punctures sparse.

Pronotum as in fragilis but ridge extending down from angle more distinct in upper half. Mesoscutum as in fragilis but punctures more abundant in anterior third, separated mostly by one puncture width or slightly more. Scutellum, propodeum and mesepisternum as in fragilis. Wing venation as in fragilis but second submarginal cell somewhat larger and one specimen with only two submarginal cells in both wings. Metasomal terga and sterna and pygidial plate as in fragilis.

VESTITURE. — As is fragilis except as follows: hind tibial scopal hairs plumose throughout; corbicula with internal hairs branched and the long curled dorsal marginal hairs often extending down along at least upper half of anterior margin; metasomal terga 2-4 with apical fasciae longer than usual for fragilis and usually complete (extremely narrowly interrupted medially on tergum 2 in holotype).

MALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS: N = 1; length, about 8 mm; width, about 2 mm; wing length, about 3.35 mm; FL/FW, about 0.99; FS1/FS2, about 1.71.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — As in fragilis but flagellum dark brown below and wing veins orange with stigma dark red.

STRUCTURE. — Antenna of moderate length; scape length equal to first two and one-half flagellar segments; flagellar segment 1 shorter than segments 2 plus 3, otherwise segments as in fragilis. Eyes each about three times as long as broad, inner margins converging extremely slightly towards mandibles. Galea as in female. Mandible as in fragilis. Labial palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 1.0:0.7:0.4:0.7. Maxillary palpus as in fragilis but ratio about as 1.0:1.0:0.9:0.7:0.6:0.7. Labrum and process as in fragilis. Clypeus much flattened medially, apical free margin extremely short medially and not directed strongly upwards as in fragilis, punctures distinct, separated mostly by one to two puncture widths except along sparsely punctate midline, surface moderately shiny, reticularly shagreened. Supraclypeal area, face above antennal fossae and vertex as in fragilis. Genal areas as in fragilis but posterior carina extremely weakly expressed and only in upper half, surface dulled by coarse reticular shagreening.

Thoracic form and sculpture as in fragilis. Venation as in fragilis but second submarginal cell about as long as broad.

Metasomal terga and sterna as in fragilis. Sternum 6 with broadly U-shaped, shallow, apical emargination. Terminalia as in fragilis but penis valves with ventral lamellae about as broad as dorsal lamellae (no broader); sterna 7 and 8 (Figs. 24-25) much as in fragilis.

VESTITURE. — Generally as in fragilis but tergal pale bands reduced to short lateral fasciae (may be simply worn in this specimen) and sterna 2-5 with weak subapical fimbriae.
