Overview
This small southwestern species (Fig. 6) is closely related to A. sphaeralceae Linsley from which it differs in both sexes by its smaller size, shorter vertex, and more distinct and complete apical pale fasciae on terga 1-5. The male is known from a single specimen, which, unfortunately, lacks an abdomen and, therefore, is incompletely described below.

FEMALE. Measurements and Ratios. — N = 11; length, 8-9 mm; width, 2.0-2.5 mm; wing length, M=3.04±0.046 mm; M=1.00±0.004; FOVL/FOVW, M=3.26± 0.022.

Integumental Color. — Black except as follows: mandible with apical third rufescent; flagellar segments dark brown below; wing membranes hyaline, veins dark brown; tegula brown, somewhat translucent medially; terga 1-4 with apical areas hyaline, yellowish; three specimens with terga 1-3 or 1-5 ferruginous; sterna 2-5 with base often rufescent, narrow apical areas hyaline; distitarsi dark reddish brown; tibial spurs testaceous.

Structure. — Antennal scape as long as first three and one-half flagellar segments; flagellar segment 1 slightly longer than segment 2 plus 3 (about as 6:5); segment 2 equal to 3 in length and broader than long; segment 4 quadrate. Eyes each about three and one-third times as long as broad, inner margins parallel or converging slightly toward vertex. Malar space, mandible, and galea as in palpalis. Maxillary palpus no longer than galea or shorter; segmental ratio about 1.0:1.0:0.8:0.6:0.6:0.6. Labial palpus normal, segments 3 and 4 not meeting each preceding segment far from its tip, segmental ratio about 1.0:0.7:0.5:0.5. Labral process entire or extremely weakly emarginate; labrum below process with weak median crista, convex. Clypeus bowed outward, with round punctures separated mostly by one puncture width, surface moderately shiny to shiny, lightly shagreened especially posteriorly. Supraclypeal area, face above antennal fossae, and facial foveae as in sphaeralceae. Vertex above lateral ocellus equals slightly less than one ocellar diameter, finely tessellate. Genal area in profile broader than eye, surface moderately shiny, sparsely and minutely punctate, lightly shagreened. Pronotum with humeral angle weakly formed, ridge rounded; surface dull to moderately shiny, reticularly shagreened. Mesoscutum with round punctures separated mostly by one puncture width, sparser posteromedially; surface shiny, unshagreened. Scutellum sparsely punctate except peripherally, surface shiny, unshagreened. Propodeal dorsal area smooth, finely tessellate; dorsolateral and posterior surfaces with shallow obscure punctures, finely tessellate; corbicular area with sparse punctures, tessellate. Mesepisternum with shallow punctures obscured by dense fine tessellation. Metasomal tergum 1 with basal area with minute punctures separated mostly by three to five puncture widths, apical area punctures separated mostly by two puncture widths or less, surfaces shiny, unshagreened. Tergum 2 with punctures separated mostly by one to two puncture widths, surface shiny, unshagreened except at extreme base. Terga 3 and 4 similar to 2; tergum 5 dulled by dense reticular shagreening. Pygidial plate V-shaped with small rounded apex, raised internal triangle not evident. Sterna 2-5 with narrow apical areas impunctate; basal areas with punctures sparse, crowded near apical area; surfaces moderately shiny, with transversely reticular shagreening.

Vestiture. — White except as follows: terga 5 and 6 brown (except laterally on 6); sternal hairs brown at least medially, 5 and 6 entirely brown; tarsi and outer surfaces fore and middle tibiae brown; basitibial plate, apex of femur, and a few adjacent scopal hairs usually brown. Metasomal terga 1-5 with narrow but complete apical fasciae of pale pubescence (occasionally interrupted medially on tergum 1); tergum 1 with long sparse basal hairs. Propodeal corbiculum incomplete anteriorly, with long simple internal hairs. Tibial scopal hairs long, moderately plumose throughout. Trochanteral flocculus complete, dense, subgenal coronet present but weak.

MALE. Measurements and Ratios. — N = 1; wing length, 2.55 mm; FL/FW, 1.13; FS1/FS2, 2.40.

Integumental Color. — As in female except as follows: clypeus white except narrow apical margin and small dark maculae below tentorial pits; flagellar segments 3-11 dark red below.

Structure. — Antennal scape as long as first three flagellar segments; flagellar segment 1 equal to segment 2 plus 3; segment 2 shorter than 3; segment 3 quadrate; segments 4-10 slightly longer than broad. Eyes each about three times as long as broad, inner margins parallel. Malar space, labial and maxillary palpi, galeae as in female, labral process narrow, reflexed, weakly emarginate. Clypeus, supraclypeal area, face above antennal fossae, and vertex as in female. Genal area in profile broader than eye, posterior angle rounded, not knob-like; surface moderately shiny, punctures sparse, shagreening weak, shinier near eye. Pronotum with rounded but distinct humeral angles, dorsoventral ridge distinct but crossed by suture in upper third; surface moderately dulled by fine regular tessellation. Mesoscutum, scutellum, propodeum, and mesepisternum as in female, but scutellar punctures slightly more abundant.

Vestiture. — White as in female.
