This species is a western mountain bee not closely related to any of the species described above. A. quintiliformis is like miranda in having a high vertex but is like sigmundi in the relatively short apical area of the second tergum. The male has short first flagellar segments and a deeply emarginate sixth sternum as in forbesii. Both sexes are coarsely and densely punctate, especially on the base of the first tergum and the female has the thoracic dorsum covered with extremely short, scalelike hairs. The female has angulate fore femora as in miranda.

FEMALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS. — N = 20; length, 9-11 mm; width, 2.5-3.5 mm; wing length, M = 3.61 ± 0.121 mm; FL/FW, M = 1.07 ± 0.010; FOVL/FOVW, M = 3.50 ± 0.041.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — Black except as follows: mandible with apical third to half rufescent; flagellar segments 2-10 dark brown to brownish-black below; wing membranes moderately infumate, brownish-yellow, veins dark reddish-brown to black; distitarsi and tibial spurs rufescent.

STRUCTURE. — Antennal scape and flagellar segments as in sigmundi but flagellar segments 2 and 3 broader than long. Eyes, malar space, mandible and galea as in sigmundi. Maxillary palpus as in sigmundi but segmental ratio about as 0.8:1.0:0.7:0.7:0.6:0.6. Labial palpus as in sigmundi but ratio about as 1.0:0.8:0.5:0.6. Labral process as in sigmundi but slightly longer; labrum below process not sulcate, with four or five minute, indistinct cristae. Clypeus and supraclypeal area as in sigmundi. Genal area distinctly broader than eye in profile (about as 28:23), with coarse round punctures separated by less than one puncture width (about size of supraclypeal area punctures), shiny; ventrally with coarse rugulae converging toward mandibles, small distinct interrugal punctures and fine shagreening. Vertex above lateral ocellus distinctly longer than one ocellar diameter (about as 12:7 or 8), with three to five irregular rows of coarse punctures separated mostly by less than half a puncture width and shagreening dulling surface. Pace above antennal fossae as in sigmundi. Facial foveae as in sigmundi but separated from lateral ocellus by about three-fourths of one ocellar diameter and narrow lower portion nearer to eye margin.

Pronotum with abundant small punctures posteriorly separated by less than one puncture width, sparser anteriorly, surface shiny anteriorly to shagreened and moderately dull posteriorly. Mesoscutum as in sigmundi but punctures larger. Scutellum similar to mesoscutum but punctures more crowded. Propodeum sculptured as in sigmundi. Mesepisternum coarsely punctatorugose but punctures slightly separated in lower-posterior area. Posterior hind tibial spur normal. Anterior femur with inner basal angle (just before meeting trochanter) distinctly enlarged to form a right-angle or less when viewed from behind. Pterostigma and wing venation as in sigmundi but second submarginal cell receives vein 1st m-cu at middle or slightly beyond.

Metasomal tergum 1 with basal area punctures separated by half a puncture width more or less; apical area punctures by half a puncture width or less; punctures round and deep; surface shiny, unshagreened. Tergum 2 with apical area about equal in length to half of tergum medially or slightly more; punctures both basally and apically small, deep, round, separated mostly by half a puncture width or less; surface shiny, unshagreened or only delicately so. Terga 3 and 4 similar to 2. Pygidial plate V-shaped, apex rounded only when worn; internal raised triangular area usually poorly denned, often only an indistinct raised median ridge near apex present. Sterna as in sigmundi.

VESTITURE. — Generally pale ochraceous except as follows: vertex with sparse reddish-brown hair; mesoscutum with large posteromedian square patch of reddish-brown hair; scutellum often with small anteromedian patch of dark hair; terga 2-4 with basal area hair often brown in part, apical areas with at least lateral patches of short decumbent white pubescence, occasionally apical fascia complete on tergum 4 and almost so on tergum 3 (but narrower medially); terga 5 and 6 with dark brown hairs; basitibial plate, apex of hind femur, outer surfaces fore and middle tibiae, and usually outer surfaces tarsi with dark brown hair; inner surfaces tarsi golden. Head hair short; thoracic dorsum with short, densely plumose, scalelike, usually decumbent or suberect; terga hairs short.

MALE. MEASUREMENTS AND RATIOS. — N = 20; length, 8.5-11.0 mm; width, 1.5-2.5 mm; wing length, M = 3.54 ± 0.187 mm; FL/FW, M = 1.11 ± 0.006; FS1/FS2, M = 0.66 ± 0.007.

INTEGUMENTAL COLOR. — As in sigmundi but narrow apical margins sterna 2-5 hyaline, colorless to yellow and narrow apical margins terga 2-5 translucent, yellow to rufescent.

STRUCTURE. — Antennae in repose barely reaching propodeum or slightly shorter; scape length equals about first two and one-half flagellar segments; flagellar segment 1 two-thirds as long as segment 2, about as long as broad, segments 2-11 one and one-third to one and one-half times as long as broad. Eyes, malar space, mandible and galea as in sigmundi. Maxillary palpus as in female but segmental ratio about as 0.9:1.0:0.9:0.9:0.6:0.6. Labial palpus as in female but ratio about as 1.0:0.6:0.4:0.6. Labrum and clypeus as in sigmundi. Supraclypeal area densely punctate with small round deep punctures. Vertex and face as in female. Genal area as in female.

Thoracic sculpturing as in female except as follows: mesoscutal and scutellar punctures smaller but more crowded; propodeum with dorsal enclosure with fewer longitudinal rugae (usually 6 or 7); propodeal lateral surfaces moderately coarsely punctatorugose. Wing venation and tibial spurs as in female. Anterior femur with base normal, rounded.

Metasomal sculpturing as in female except as follows: terga 2-5 with apical areas distinctly shorter than basal areas; sterna 2-5 with basal area punctures distinct, deep, separated mostly by one-half to one puncture width or slightly more, surface shiny, usually unshagreened or only delicately so. Terminalia as in sigmundi but sees figures 30-31.

VESTITURE. — Generally ochraceous and distributed as in sigmundi except terga 2-5 with distinct pale apical bands but these usually broadly interrupted medially on terga 2 and 3 and usually narrowly interrupted on tergum 4. Sterna 2-5 with weak subapical fimbriae of short white hairs.
