Overview |
Taken from:
R. M. Bohart and L. S. Kimsey. 1982. A Synopsis of the Chrysididae in America North of Mexico.
Discussion: C. alienus males closely resemble those of speciosus, and in some cases can be identified only by association with females. No distinguishing structural features have been found in either sex. Coloration, although generally unsatisfactory, is the only characteristic which seems to separate alienus from speciosus. The head and scutum of alienus males and females are blue to purple.
Material examined: 36 males, 43 females.
Distribution: CALIFORNIA: Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Tuolumne, Modoc, Siskiyou and Kern Counties; WASHINGTON: King County; OREGON: Benton, Washington, Clackamas, Klamath and Lake Counties; COLORADO: Boulder County; IDAHO: Valley and Butte Counties; GEORGIA: Cloquitt County; ALBERTA: Lethbridge. Collection dates are April through August.
