Overview
Sporocarps gregarious. Sporotheca globose, erect or nodding, 0.3-0.5 mm diam., brick-red to deep maroon or rose-purple. Stalk usually long, slender, tapered upward, dark, 50-85% of the total height. Hypothallus scanty. Calyculus 30-50% of the sporotheca, finely ribbed, covered, especially above, with purple calcic granules 2-2.5 µm diam., the margin toothed or perforate. Peridial net well-developed, the nodes dark, small, rather flat, but distinctly thickened, the meshes small, polygonal, the threads delicate, colourless, with many free ends. Spore-mass purple. Spores pale violaceous, smooth, 6-6.5 µm diam. Plasmodium unknown.
