Echinostelium minutum
Overview
Sporocarps 250-500 µm tall, white or sometimes pink when fresh, white or pinkish when dry. Stalk 180-400 µm long, the basal part expanded and filled with granular matter, tapered to 1.5-3 µm diam. at the apex. Sporotheca 40-70 µm diam. Columella 3-10(-15) µm long. Capillitium a delicate, freely branching system arising mainly from the columella tip with numerous pointed free ends, branched but rarely anastomosed. Peridium remaining as a 4-9 µm diam. collar at the base of the sporotheca. Spore-mass white or pink. Spores hyaline, globose, 6-8(-10) µm diam., minutely roughened, bearing obscure spore-to-spore articular pads. Typically two spores adhere to the base of the columella.
