Sequoia, Redwood
Overview
Conifers and their allies: plants with naked seeds not enclosed in an ovary. They are considered to be more primitive than Angiosperms (broadleaved plants). In contrast, Broadleaves have ovules enclosed for protection, in an ovary. Following successful fertilization, the ovules develop into seeds.
