Physarum didermoides
Overview
Sporocarps short-stalked or sessile, densely clustered or forming a pseudoaethalium. Sporothecae ovoid to short-cylindrical, 0.4-0.6 mm wide, white. Hypothallus extensive, confluent, white. Stalk white, as a continuation of the hypothallus. Peridium double, the outer layer calcareous, fragile, fugaceous, the inner layer membranous, often tinged purple. Capillitium abundant, consisting of numerous rounded or angular white nodes and hyaline tubules, the nodes often massed to form a pseudocolumella. Spore-mass black. Spores dark purple-brown, 12-15 µm diam., densely spinulose, sometimes angular or irregular in shape. Plasmodium white or pale grey.
