Overview
Sporocarps gregarious, stipitate. Sporothecae globose, white, 0.4-0.5 mm diam. Peridium calcareous, the lime in small, frosty particles, suggesting Didymium. Stalk white, calcareous, sulcate, brittle, tapered upwards, very short or up to 50% of the total height. Columella usually absent, sometimes present as a short conical projection. Capillitium rather lax, the nodes large, angular, white, connected by long, hyaline threads, sometimes massed to form a central pseudocolumella. Spore-mass black. Spores pale violet-brown, distinctly warted, 8-10 µm diam. Plasmodium white, often tinted with blue, green, or yellow.
