occurrenceRemarksThis picture was taken in Lakeland, Fl. The Pharaoh Ant is a native of Africa but it can be found in all parts of the world. These ants do not live outdoors unless they are in the south. The ants have found a way to adapt to the Florida weather. In places that are colder, the ants live in heated buildings. The Pharaoh Ants vary in size. They are about 1.5 to 2 mm long. The color of the ant varies from yellow, to light brown, to red. The abdomen of the an is darker than the rest of the body.
