This is an example of the complicated artwork on the ceiling of the main saltpeter mining area. There are some interesting unresolved questions about this artwork and cave. Most of the artwork is on the ceiling and out of reach. We think the floor was "dug out" for processing. There are 1813 dates intermixed with actual artwork. There are very few signatures and they are much later in the 1800's. This is the only saltpeter cave we have seen with this type of artwork. Much more work has to be conducted on this cave.
