AMNH Type Collection (Euglossa pretiosa) "Both Moure (1967:409) and Kimsey (1982:72) have assumed that a female specimen, labeled from 'Ecuador, Santa Inez' and deposited at the AMNH, is the holotype. In the original description, Friese mentions only a female from 'Ecuador (Caucatal)'. More recently, Nemésio & Rasmussen (2011:22) also treated the AMNH specimen as a false type. They also assumed that the species was described based on more than one specimen. Since Friese's original indication suggests that only a single female was examined, the status of the type material is here maintained as holotype (G. A. R. Melo, unpubl.)." source: Moure's Bee Catalogue
