Anthidium oblongatum (Illiger, 1806)

 

 

North Mediterranean species. In the sub-Mediterranean, Dinaric, pre-Alpine and sub-Pannonian regions of Slovenia.

Polylectic species, visiting mainly Fabaceae. Nests in various pre-existing cavities. The cell partitions are made of cottony plant down.

Univoltine. Flies from June to August.

Male on Lotus tenuis . Seča, Istra, August 2009.

 

Female scraping plant wool from a leaf of Centaurea . Kovk, August 2016.

 

The wool is pushed into an elongated heap.

 

Then it is compressed between the head and abdomen to form a ball.

 

Female only a moment before she flew to the nest with a ball of plant wool.

 

Razširjenost vrste v Sloveniji.

Je zelo razširjena in za sedaj ni ogrožena.
