Overview
Total height 1.5-2.0 mm before expansion, crowded, oval, expanding only slightly, brick-red to beige when fresh. Hypothallus concolorous, shining. Stalk c. 50% total unexpanded height, furrowed, beige to blackish. Sporotheca 0.7-1.0 mm tall, 0.7-0.8 mm diam. Calyculus orange-brown to beige, shining, goblet-shaped, ca. 55% the sporotheca, irregularly reticulate with rounded meshes. Capillitium attached inside the stalk apex, only slightly elastic, not falling out from the cup, the threads sparsely branched and forming a wide-meshed net with few free, swollen free ends, regularly spinose, the spines 1-3 m long and frequently connected by ridges, 2.5-4.5 m diam. (excluding spines), with occasional expansions and swollen free ends up to 6 m diam. Spore-mass orange-red. Spores pale yellow, 9.5-10.5 m diam.
