Overview |
Sporocarps stalked, often with united stalks, usually gregarious in large developments, 3-4 mm total height. Sporotheca obovate to globose, black or dark chestnut-brown. Hypothallus dark red, confluent. Stalk hollow, dark red to black, red by TL. Peridium double, the outer layer cartilaginous, the inner layer membranous. Dehiscence into a 4-6 petaloid lobes. Capillitium of long, orange-red unbranched tubes, coiled and folded back on themselves, 5-6 µm diam., with 4-6 smooth spirals, gradually tapered into long points. Spore-mass bright orange-brown. Spores red-brown, 10-12 µm diam., densely spinulose. Plasmodium dark red to black.
