Flowering - April - June.

Habitat - Rocky open woods, prairies, fallow fields, railroads.

Origin - Native to U.S.

Other info. - This little trailing species can be found throughout Missouri. It is much more common than the similar P. canadensis L. which can only be found in the Ozark region of the state.
P. simplex is a variable plant which can be nearly glabrous to sericeous. Steyermark splits the species into three varieties based on this variability. I will not go into those here.
