SEMICOSSYPHUS

SHEEPHEADS

Body robust, dorsal fin with XII spines, 10 rays; lateral line complete, smoothly arched; scales relatively small, 50-60 on lateral line, those on head reaching only to rear of eyes.

An eastern and western Pacific warm temperate genus with 3 species; 2 endemic to the eastern Pacific, as each entering the northern and southern fringes of our region.
