Overview
The 155-acre UGA Costa Rica Campus features 36,000ft² of classroom, laboratory, dormitory, dining and other support facilities, and 30 full-time staff. The Campus hosts the GIS lab for the Pájaro Campana Biological Corridor (PCBC), which extends over 664km² from Monteverde's Pacific-slope cloudforests on the continental divide to the mangrove forests along the northern Gulf of Nicoya, and UGA Costa Rica is an active member of the Corridor Advisory Board. UGA Costa Rica currently administers 21 in-house study abroad programs for over 250 students and 48 UGA faculty. The UGA Costa Rica Campus also hosts over 1,100 students and faculty participating in other schools' and universities' education abroad programs. We are experienced in delivering high-quality, academically-rigorous field study programs. The mission of UGA Costa Rica (UGA CR) is to provide academically-rigorous instruction, relevant community outreach and service-learning experiences, and leading-edge research opportunities for University of Georgia undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, their colleagues and peers from other domestic and international institutions of higher education, and nature-based tourists. In addition to the experiential options available on the UGA CR campus, supplemental experiences are provided in other parts of Costa Rica and throughout Latin America.
