Turnipseed Wake County, North Carolina
| |||||||
| |||||||
Overview
The Turnipseed Tract is 221 acres of protected open space that is being considered for designation as a WakeNature Preserve. It lies along Mark's Creek in the Fall Line transition zone between the Piedmont and Coastal Plain of North Carolina. Despite its modest size, Turnipseed is rather habitat rich, containing such diverse habitats as streams, wetlands, fallow fields, pine regenerating stands, mixed hardwood forests, shaded rock outcrops and exposed granitic flatrocks. The Turnipseed Tract is owned and managed by the Wake County Division of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space with the assistance of the WakeNature Preserves Partnership through inventories, monitoring, outreach and volunteer workday events.
