Natural History
The genus Pachysomoides Strand is in the tribe of Lymeonina of the subfamily Cryptinae. Other names for this genus include Pachysoma Szepligeti and Polistiphaga Cushman (Burks, 1979). This genus is Neartic and Neotropic. The species of this small New World genus are parasitic in the nests of Polistes, or Vespidae, and are idiobiont pupal (or prepupal) parasitoids (Townes, 1969).
