Identification
Rickett says this may be the most common violet in the east. It has heart-shaped, often serrated, leaves of which the side petals have beards. The flowers range in color from white to light or deep violet. It likes to grow in moist soils in areas stretching from Massachusetts to Minnesota and south to Georgia and Alabama,
