Including Ants in NSF-IRC Proposal

I was hoping you would get involved in this. Any interest in plant-ant interaction aspects? As living anti-herbivore agents? I have been wanting to do this for a while--look at Coley et al's ideas of productivity and plant defenses on an NPP gradient. The Smokies gives a fair chunk, along with abiotic variance. I could see some nifty comparative work between temperate and tropical that would also allow me to look at the degree to which plant diversity may drive ant diversity. Let me know. Or is RonP going to do this? Also, Christmas break is coming up. Large chunk of time to work on projects, like Alates. Keep me aprised. Cheers, Mike
