  • head small, pointed, profiles convex

  • 7 gold stripes; black blotch behind opercle
ARCHOSARGUS

SEABREAMS

Body oval, somewhat compressed, back humped; head small, pointed, upper and lower profiles convex; mouth small, at front, with large teeth with flattened tips; eye moderate; dorsal fin long & low, XIII spines; anal short, III short spines; pectoral long, much longer than pelvic.

A neotropical genus of 3 species; a single species in and endemic to the tropical eastern Pacific.
