Overview
Plasmodium white. Sporocarpous or sometimes plasmodiocarpous, gregarious or crowded, sessile or occasionally short-stalked. Hypothallus thin, inconspicuous, dark red. Stalk, when present, red. Sporothecae white or cinereous, subglobose, pulvinate, 0.4-2 mm diam. Peridium thin, membranous, usually with dense lime deposits, sometimes nearly limeless and iridescent. Capillitium dense, white, sometimes aggregated at the base and the centre to form a pseudocolumella, usually with some limeless tubules and often with many. Spore-mass black. Spores free, bright violaceous brown, sometimes darker on one side, minutely punctate, 11-14 µm diam.
