Overview
Sporocarps stalked, gregarious, subglobose, 0.7-1 mm diam., up to 2 mm tall, pearl-grey to greyish-beige, shining. Hypothallus extensive but inconspicuous. Stalk longer than the diam. of the sporotheca, thick, grooved, calcareous, pale ochraceous. Peridium double, the outer layer cartilaginous but also calcareous, the inner layer membranous, the pair dehiscing in a petaloid fashion, revealing the pale brown inner surface of the peridium. Columella clavate, reaching to the centre of the sporotheca, reddish ochraceous, rough. Capillitium abundant, the threads thin, sparsely branched, purple-brown with bead-like swellings. Spore-mass dark brown. Spores dark purple-brown, 10-11 µm diam., with large, dark scattered warts, sometimes with a thin line. Plasmodium whitish.
